Barrie Downtown Neighbourhood Association

   community crime prevention programs i.e. Citizens on Patrol, Block Parents and

We believe:

·        that everyone has the responsibility to protect himself/herself against being a victim of  crime; when provided with proper training and information, individuals will take steps  to protect themselves again being victimized;

·        that ongoing two-way communication with our membership/citizens of Barrie will

      ensure the continuing relevance and effectiveness of our programs and services;

·        that crime prevention is everybody’s business; that good citizenship means reporting

      suspicious activity to the police; that neighbours working together can achieve more

      than they otherwise would working alone; and that BDNA must work cooperatively

      with other crime prevention organizations to fulfill our mandate;

·        that our programs, services and business processes must be reviewed regularly to keep them relevant and ensure continuous improvement;

·        that our programs must be of high quality and well presented;

·        in contemporary principles of good governance, in sound management practices, in

      financial responsibility, in transparency and in accountability to our membership;

·        that crime prevention is one of the four pillars of public policy in the area of crime,

      along with policing, the justice system and corrections.
