2. Youth Report on Crime in Downtown -
Tabitha, on her personal time made queries from 6 students from Maple Ave Youth C entre
and Youth Haven. They had the same ideas about their safety in the downtown area as the local
residents have. Did not feel comfortable in the downtown area at night. They did not know about
the Barrie Downtown Neighbourhood Assoc., and would like to know more. We will inform them
when the monthly meetings occur, so they can join our meetings and get more input from the youth.
Tabitha did an excellent job on the interviews in a short period of time. Thankyou.
3. Business Arising
i) Video Cameras in the downtown - Jack Garner
Jeff Lehman is inquiring about how it is working in different cities. A staff report will
be done and go the administration and eventually to council. BIA is in favour. Maybe get more
information from a local security company, with the ongoing costs.

on this issue and will be greatly missed as a member of the Committee.
Sharon will receive the information from Kelly and bring it to the next meeting. Information
not readily available from the John Howard Society or the CNCC. , on how serious the problem
is. Will keep trying to get more information. Someone will be needed to take on this issue.
