Video Cameras in Downtown Barrie - Jack
Jeff Lehman informed us about a meeting at the Georgian Room at City Hall on the 2nd Floor @ 10:00am on July 27, 2010 concerning Video Cameras to be installed in the downtown area. Hoping to attend, Jack Ben, Steve, and Irene.
Super Jail Offenders released in Barrie – Jack
Jack to have more
discussions with Roy from the Salvation Army.
Noise from Bars in Downtown Barrie – Stephen
Stacy Guymer from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and Stephen walked from Tiff’s on Mulcaster Street to the Five Points visiting all the Bars on Dunlop Street and The Ranch on Bayfield Street on June 26, 2010 starting at 11:00pm. Stacey makes sure staff have certificates for security and for serving. The Bars are also responsible for control and maintaining patrons outside their establishment. The Patio at the 5 has noise restriction written into licence. School buses were available to take people to and from bars.
Police must have a complaint to enforce bylaw. Currently police priority is to have the “Garage Doors” rolled down at 11:00pm to cut down on noise. Any concerns to be brought to the attention of the Police to make sure the roll down doors are down at 11 p.m. Stacey has to be informed of any complaints. A balance is needed between restaurants and nightclubs in the downtown area with input from the public.
Jeff informed us of a public meeting in August to get input into the proposed minimum separation distance bylaw. It was suggested that bars be added to the list of establishments listed in the bylaw.
Traffic at the Five Points
Brian to check on signs with Wendel McArthur from the City.
Citizens on Patrol:
Angela Butler of the Barrie Police works on the Neighbourhood Watch
program and Park Ambassador program.
Citizens on Patrol are in different areas, but nothing for downtown at
the present time. With 122 parks in
Barrie, the city is installing 10 mosquitoes (a high frequency noise machine to
discourage young people from hanging around the parks and doing damage.) Stephen to contact the members about doing
walk-abouts in the downtown area from Mulcaster to High Street during the day
and late at night. We would also hit the side streets.
BDNA Website:
Ken offered to work on a new website format for the BDNA. This items was referred to the Steering
Committee for
consideration.
Meeting adjourned @8.45pm.
