JUST SOME UPDATES

Just some updates

A note from Mike re video cameras for the downtown:
I was speaking to Doug Jure, Chair of the Barrie Police Board. He copied me on a letter to the Attorney General Dated Dec 19th, 2011 requesting $250,000 for cameras for downtown Barrie through the Civil Remedies Act. The Act basically deals with money generated from the sale of assets seized as ‘proceeds of criminal activity’. The cameras fall under one of the potential uses of this fund.

The minimum distance by-laws for bars, etc. & for boarding, lodging & rooming houses:
The staff reports for both minimum separation distance by laws are coming to council at the end of February / beginning of March.

The gentleman who is living out of his car on Maple Street (for the last X no. of years):
Lynn Strachan has sent an email requesting follow up re: the man in his car on Maple. Staff were supposed to have 'evicted' this man already so she'll see what is going on.

Re the C.N.C.C. release process:
Rod Jackson (MPP) has sent a letter to the Minister and has requested a meeting. If he doesn't get a reply he will ask a question during question period in February when the house resumes sitting. Lynn and Rod have been working together on this situation.

Re the removal of the telephone kiosks at Maple and Dunlop:
Lynn had gapped this one, but is now reminded and making inquiries.
